Day 9: The Hamam Experience

We felt a lot better this morning so we decided to make a feast for breakfast (as we'd missed breakfast, lunch and dinner the previous day). Afterwards, we went to the famous "Sefa Hamam" (Turkish Bath) nearby, recommended by many people.

**I didn't take any photos at the hamam so these are some I found on the website**

Sefa Hamam is over 600 years old (7th century). These are the domes from outside that let natural light enter.

The bath from outside. The mannequin outside is dressed in the traditional robes that we had to wear after our scrubbing and soap massage.

We were left in this room alone for 15 mins lying on the hot stone to sweat out toxins and relax. However the acoustics were amazing and we got a bit carried away singing...

After the 15min rest period, we were led into a different room where we got a full body scrub. Then, similar to the picture above, we were covered in bubbles which were lathered on by a small towel sack filled with air. It was a really interesting feeling and experience. We received a soapy massage before being washed off and headed to the waiting room for Apple tea and fruits. Then one by one we were led to another room and received full body oil massages that felt like heaven.

This was the view from the marina where we sat afterwards, feeling so clean and fresh from our day at the hamam.
