Day 30: Vatican City

(2/8) We were up bright and early to try our luck at the ticket queues to the Vatican City.

The Swiss guards!

A perfectly preserved mummy in the Egyptian exhibition at the Vatican.

Some of the statues had very interesting facial expressions..

Heading toward the Sistine Chapel.

One of our favourite rooms leading towards the Chapel. The entire roof was painted but looked deceivingly as if it were 3D.

The staircase leading out of the Vatican.

For lunch, we walked to the Jewish Ghetto (famous for good quality food, artichokes in particular) and got supplí and salads. They were absolutely delicious.

Afterwards, we walked back to the Vatican and went up to the top of the Dome.

Inside the Dome, looking down.

The view from outside the dome.

360 degrees of Rome, absolutely beautiful!

The extremely narrow staircase we had to walk up and down to reach the Dome.
