Lake Hangetsu is a beautiful byproduct of a crater eruption at the base of Mount Yotei that occurred in the year 1050BC. Dad and I went for a long 3 hour hike in search of the majestic lake (hangetsu in Japanese means half-moon) that we'd heard rumours about. After a lot of walking and a friendly family that pointed us in the right direction, we finally stumbled upon the peaceful little lake. However, being the curiously stubborn explorers that we are, the view from the top of the snow covered hill was not satisfying. So we ventured on using makeshift walking sticks from nearby branches that guided dad first and I closely following down the dangerously slippery, steep path towards the waters edge.

The beautiful lake.
