Hokkaido

First stop, northern Japan!

My journey begins on Saturday 26th April as I departed from Sydney airport stopping via Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Osaka, Japan before finally arriving at the new Chitose airport in Sapporo, Japan. After a 2 hour bus ride we (my dad and myself) arrived at our final destination, Niseko! Renowned as a ski town we spent several days hitting the slopes, eating ourselves silly and wandering around the Japanese countryside.

My backpack for the next year. I like to think of it as a turtle shell, or I could possibly be a hermit crab.

The beautiful view from the plane ride going north towards Hokkaido. A glimpse of the Northern Japan Alps can be seen.

Breathtaking views from the top of the ski slopes. The grand mountain featured in this is called Mt. Yotei, an old volcano that towers above the surrounding villages in Niseko. That's dad in the bottom right corner.

Considering it's Spring time in Japan and this is the last week of the ski season, I'd say that the snow was surprisingly good as you can see. But I'd love to come back one winter and try the infamous Niseko powder.

Note to self, always put on sunscreen when skiing. Goggle tans are NOT a good look.
